Recommendation during the summer break

Hi Ballet Lovers

Most of the ballet companies will be having a summer break in July and August. I wish all dancers a great time!

My next post will be in September after the break. Looking very much forward to the new season 16/17.

I recommend for enthusiastic ballet lovers the dance events at Edinburgh International Festival from 5. August to 29. August.

The ultimative Highlight will be the WORLD PREMIERE

NATALIA OSIPOVA AND GUESTS

in Choregraphies of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui / Russell Maliphant / Arthur Pita
Sadler’s Wells production at the Festival Theatre. Three dance works created for Natalia Osipova, joined in two by Sergei Polunin.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Multi award-winning Russian classical ballerina Natalia Osipova is a major star in the dance world. She started formal ballet training at age 8, joining the Bolshoi Ballet at age 18 and dancing many of the art form’s biggest roles. After leaving the Bolshoi in 2011, she joined American Ballet Theatre as a guest dancer and later the Mikhailovsky Ballet. She joined The Royal Ballet as a principal in 2013 after her guest appearance in Swan Lake.

World Premiere. Osipova will be joined by Sergei Polunin for these world premieres, marking the first time they have danced together in the UK.

I danced ballet as child, albeit with little success. Despite this, my passion for ballet and dance has carried into adulthood. I still love to watch ballet performances and would love to share my passion with you.
